Dorel FODOREANU - Cello

First Prize of the National Superior Conservatory of Music of Bucharest, Dorel FODOREANU was solo cello at the Georges Enesco Philharmonic Orchestra. He continued his career as a soloist, having at the same time a rich chamber music activity. Founding member of the prestigious ENESCO Quartet , he settled in Paris in 1979.

Dorel Fodoreanu has been one of the first Romanian native artists invited to play as a soloist with the Georges Enesco Philharmonic Orchestra soon after the Romanian Revolution in 1989. First Prize of the Paris International Chamber Music Competition and Grand Prix of the French Académie du Disque with the ENESCO Quartet, he also obtained the Mihail Jora Prize in 1990.

Dorel Fodoreanu teaches at the Sorbonne University in Paris ; being at the same time solo cello of the Sorbonne Symphony Orchestra. He was invited to perform and for master classes at the Central Florida University (Orlando), the Fletcher Foundation of Durham (North Carolina), in Great Britain, Palacio Real in Madrid, and to those at the request of the Government of Aragon : Albaracin, Alcaniz, and Burgos. He played as cello solo at the Barcelona Orchestra and the Arturo Toscanini Filarmonica of Parma.

He is regularly invited to be a member in international juries : Paris, Saint Petersburg (Tchaikovsky Junior) and in the French National Conservatories of Paris, Lyon and Marseille.
